This is the last drawing for my art course. Here I was supposed to draw "what it is that interests me about animals and try to express it." I wasn't supposed to draw any picture from my text-book -- I could draw from a photo or a live model. Well, as I'm sure you guessed, I picked a photo. I used a stock photo by Mark J. Barrett as reference. I picked a photo that I felt best showed what it is that inspires me the most -- the grace, beauty, nobility and power of the horse. (Cliche, I know, but I can't help it -- I adored the photo. ) Anyway, I hope the instructors don't mind I didn't draw a background ... I really like how this turned out, and I'd hate to get an F on it. (By the way, I scanned this before I shaded it, so if you're curious and want to see the line-art, just ask and I'll upload it. )
My instructor's comments: "Excellently drawn horse. Well done shading and fine work. Beautiful finished drawing. Nice shading and shadows! It has been my pleasure to grade your work!"

I love it! The anatomy looks flawless (at least to me)! It is just beautiful! The hair seems a little bland and motionless compared to the horse, though. Such an elegant pose, though. Great job!
Well, rather than signing up again, I think you should be one of the instructors.....
...and I am pleased to be "Fave #9" on this beautiful piece---I can't believe the things you can do with a pencil and a piece of copy paper!!!! That Elk was extraordinary!!!!!!
